| In September, hockey season begins with great anticipation and excitement. New teams, new coaches, new friends and new experiences. Over the course of the seven month season skills are developed in practice, efforts are put forth in games and bonds are made with teammates.
A hockey season should not solely be judged on wins and losses. The overall experience is what matters. But when it came to overall success for individual teams, this past year was full of highlights for FGNHA with a number of teams making it to the finals and a few winning the City Championship.
Our success on the ice clearly demonstrates that the future of hockey for FGNHA is bright and that our hockey program continues to provide a fun, safe and positive experience for all players. All the coaches, managers and players are to be commended on a job well done.
Without the dedication of our volunteer coaches, none of this would be possible. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to instruct and inspire a team of young athletes. All of the men and women who step forward to coach our teams lead busy lives away from the rink. Taking the time to give what they give on the ice is something worthy of respect. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your great work this past year.
Team managers, hockey moms & dads and all the others who step up to the plate during the course of a season also deserve a lot of credit. The passion off the ice by volunteer parents organizing tournaments, gathering jerseys and cheering in the stands is key to the overall success of each season.
Finally to the players, it gives coaches and parents no greater pleasure than to watch a child hustle on the ice and succeed. Whether you realize it or not, all of you became better players during the season last year through your hard work and dedication to the great game of hockey. Your efforts on the ice and your positive attitude off the ice is something we are all proud of. Great job!
Have fun and good luck to all for the upcoming 2010/2011 season. If you have any questions or concerns at any point during the season please do not hesitate to contact any of our board members.
I am also always willing to hear your concerns or answer your questions so please approach me at the rink or drop me a line anytime.
Yours in hockey,
David Moll
