Flyer's WIN IN THE Finals! Congrats to our CITY CHAMPS!

Updated: Jul 10, 2022

The FGNHA had a very good play off run with many teams making it far within their perspective series. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our four teams who WON in the City Finals and give a big shout out to those who came in Second Place!

FGNHA U18 A2 Orange Flyer’s 1st place in the City Finals!!

We capped off an incredible 20-1-1 season with a 6 game playoff run over very talented opponents.

Full respect given to the St.Vital Warriors who, despite injuries, battled right to the :55 second mark of the deciding game. We had to work hard for all 3 games of the final to earn the win.

We had a remarkable group of young men who practised hard, played harder, and won with class and dignity all season long. They were supportive of each other and embodied the team culture that we wanted to create.

Thanks to a supportive group of assistant coaches and parents who worked hard not only on hockey, but kept our team safe and healthy through Covid.

The best compliment we received was after we eliminated a team who then texted one of our parents "we really like your team, your guys are humble, not arrogant or showy when they win".

We say goodbye to 6 players who are aging out, some of which I've had the pleasure of coaching for numerous years together.

After 12 years of coaching with Fort Garry, good things are worth waiting for. Could not ask for more of a storybook ending.

FGNHA U15 A1 Flyer’s1st Place in City Finals!!

My coaching staff and I had the pleasure of working with the U15 A1 Fort Garry Flyers. The team developed strong work habits in practice resulting in a second place finish in the regular season. The team’s dedication to hard work and execution of the game plan allowed the group to advance to the City Finals to face the undefeated St. James-AW team. After losing the first two games to St. James-AW the U15 A1 Fort Garry Flyers regrouped and served up consecutive victories in games three and four. In the deciding game St. James – AW displayed why they had been undefeated throughout the regular season. Down 2-0 in the 3rd period of game 5 the Flyers clawed back to tie the game and force overtime. After some back and forth in overtime Flyer’s Logan Lechner dashed down the ice, went around an opponent and deposited the puck in St. James – AW’s net to complete the come back and seal the win. I would like to congratulate the U15 A1 Fort Garry Flyers on a well-deserved victory in capturing the City Championship.

FGNHA U13 A1 Orange Flyer’s 1st Place in City Finals!!

The U13 A1 Orange Flyers won game 5 of the B-side championship to cap off a fantastic season. It was a hard fought series which saw the home team win every game. After a slow start to the year, the team finished the second half of the season strong and carried it into the playoffs. The boys worked extremely hard all year, and made tremendous strides both on and off the ice. The coaching staff is extremely proud of the way the boys carried themselves throughout the year, and look forward to seeing how they continue to develop in their hockey careers.

Brett Franklin - Head Coach
