FGNHAGivesBack - Fill The Socks
For the last five years FGNHA teams have put together a hockey sock donation drive for people who are experiencing homelessness on the streets of Winnipeg. This year we will again be collecting for the Mama Bear Clan Winnipeg. Player's take previously loved hockey socks, and fill them with toiletries, treats, and necessities for those experiencing homelessness here in our city. We then drop them off to the Mama Bear Clan Patrol group, and then they hand them out to people in the inner-city that need them. Ideas of items to donate; socks touques mitts shampoo & conditioner deodorant toothbrush & toothpaste chapstick lotion kleenex feminine hygiene items chocolate nutrigrain bars bus tickets This year we would like all FGNHA and Storm Teams to put together hockey sock donations. If your team would like to just collect money, and use it to purchase sheets of bus tickets to donate - that is a huge gift as well! Please be sure to tag @fort.garry.north.hockey on instagram with #fortgarrygivesback with pics of your team stuffing their socks! We will be dropping off the stuffed hockey socks to the Mama Bear Clan on Sunday December 18th at 3:00 pm at the North Point Douglas Woman's Center at 221 Austin St N. Their Sunday patrol starts at 4pm, we have been invited to participate and learn about a smudge, before they head out into the community. Please let Denise know if you are interested in joining in on the donation. If you will be participating, but are unable to drop off the socks on Sunday December 18th to the Mama Bear Clan, please be sure to have all donation drop offs arranged by Wednesday December 14th to Denise at 652 Jubilee Ave.
