This year Fort Garry North Hockey Association will be partnering with Cancer Care Manitoba for their Ride Inside Wheel with the Wheelers from November 14th – 20th. We would like to teams to work together to commit to pedaling with a purpose to raise funds in support of Manitoba’s youngest cancer patients. Teams can get creative and Ride Inside with the best way that suits them (fitness workout, roller blade, bike). Activities can be flexible to meet the needs of the team with the main goal to raise funds and awareness. This year teams pick their own Ride Inside location either in person or virtual. We encourage teams to wear team jerseys and bring team spirit to Cancer Care Manitoba.

#FGNHAGIVESBACK is an initiative that our association started back in the 2017-2018 hockey season. We believe in aligning with organizations that commit to supporting children and families in Winnipeg. Some examples of how our association has given back include:
2017 – Partnered with True North Youth Foundation and held a “Fill The Net” fundraiser over our Winter Classic Tournament.
2018 – Partnered with True North Youth Foundation and held a “Fill The Net” fundraiser and donated $250 on behalf of the association to their programs.
2019 – Partnered with Winnipeg Bear Clan Patrol Inc. Pee Wee teams held a challenge to fill hockey socks with toiletries, treats and other necessities. They donated upwards of 100 hockey socks. Inspired by the Pee Wee teams the 2019 Winter Classic also collected upwards of 50 hockey socks to donate.
2020 – Partnered with Nelson House Cree Nation for an equipment drive. Our association collected gently used equipment and skates and arranged for the skates to be sharpened and everything to be transported to Nelson House for the beginning of their hockey season.
We look forward to Fort Garry teams continued support with our Give Back endeavors and we can't wait to see the end results. Please share your pictures, experiences and stories with us so we can share and inspire others.
If you require further assistance, more information or would like to bounce some ideas around for what your team can do, please reach out to me anytime.
